Producer Profile:

Founded in 1821, Barbadillo remains under family control today. Seventeen bodegas in prime positions in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with reserves of more than 45000 barrels, enable Barbadillo to provide world markets with the highest quality range of Sherries.

The Barbadillo vineyards are located in the famous Sherry triangle, and qualify as ‘Jerez Superior’. On these gently-undulating hills, Barbadillo has two vineyards called Santa Lucía and Gilbalbín.
This part of Andalucía was once covered by the Oligocene Sea, whose deep tranquil waters and soft white rock on the sea bed formed the ‘albariza’. These soils are rich in lime and silica and are extremely suitable for the production of high quality wines. The climate is favourable with more than 3000 hours of sun and soft westerly breezes that bring moisture from the sea.

Delicious pudding sherry, goes with all sorts. But drizzled over vanilla ice-cream perhaps gets the biggest thumbs up. Equally great with cheese!!
