Ageing; Oak aged
Structure; Full bodied
Food Pairing; Venison casserole, BBQ'd steak and strong cheeses
Description; Rich and intense dark berry aromas, subtle hints of spice followed by soft red fruits notes and a warming rich finish. The 2016 picked up a Platinum award in the Decanter wine competition 2019 and were fortunate enough to get hold of 10% of production as they only produce 2000 bottles. So we have now jumped back a year as they were not happy to release the 2015 at the time and this is every bit as good as the 2016.
Producer Profile; Situated halfway between the Mediterranean Sea and the Massif Central foothills, 4kms away from the historical city of Pézenas, the Estate vineyard extends over plains and garrigues. While the fine sand, or clay, or silt carried by the nearby running Hérault waters give fresh and fruity White and Rosé wines. The Etang de Thau, not far away, bathes its influence on the Picpoul de Pinet plots. There are 50 hectares in total and most of the production is now of varietal wines sold as pays' d'Oc. The vineyard has a system of night mechanical harvesting to protect the grapes potential. Soft pressings with juice selection and limited sulphites addition.
